New Music: Thrice, the Image of the Invisible

A band by the name of Thrice was recommended over at a message board that I sometimes post some thoughts. This is a secular group with a Christian lead singer. I was intrigued by their Wiki article that mentioned that they will sometimes donate proceeds from their sales to charitable causes or non-profit causes.

The lyrics to this song begin with, "We are more than carbon and chemicals; We are the image of the invisible." Certainly true, how often is our value as creatures created in the image of God sadly minimized by emphasizing the biological over the spiritual. Composition is one small part of what we really are. The greater questions cannot begin to be touched by science because spiritual realities cannot be answered in a laboratory with chemicals and instruments. The answers to so many of mankind's basic questions are found in the Bible. But like Isaiah stated, Who hath believed our report?"

Hi Barry,

Glad you liked it. I really like their giving back to society perspective. This is a band that I will be keeping my eyes on.

Oh. You've been raving about Neal Morse. Now that I see you like thrice, I'll have to check out Neal Morse.

Hi Jaby,

NM's music is really good, maybe great, some of the best in the genre but sadly he has some poor theology when it comes to the deity of Christ and the deity of the Holy Spirit. He seems to believe in salvation by grace through faith alone, the Bible as the inspired Word of God et.al but misunderstands the Trinity. He is a relatively young believer so hopefully he will come around to a more orthodox understanding.
